Redesigning a European site accessible to seniors

The challenge

AGE Platform Europe brings together a large number of organisations across Europe around the rights of older people. Its previous website had to convey an activity spread across six distinct areas of work without overwhelming the visitor. It also had to account for the specific needs of senior users, in a setup combining accessibility, readability and security.

Our approach

Simpl. rethought the website in its entirety. Navigation was simplified and content restructured according to a clear information architecture, organised around the federation's six areas of work. Technical performance was optimised on three fronts: loading speed, organic search and web security.

A modular card system was designed for event communication. A colour code distinguishes three types of content — publications, campaigns, news — which speeds up information retrieval. Large-format portraits bring a human dimension consistent with the intergenerational solidarity that underpins the network.

The editorial design serves inclusion and accessibility. Photographs of older people were selected to represent seniors with dignity, autonomy and accuracy. The airy layout remains legible for audiences with varied needs. Finally, every event relies on a dedicated template whose visual hierarchy guides the visitor towards registration while keeping practical information accessible.

The result

The project delivered a content architecture structured into six areas of work, a modular colour-coded card system applied to publications, campaigns and news, and a reproducible event template that gives the teams editorial autonomy. The website is now responsive, accessible and stronger in organic search.
